Rumors: the Pentax full frame DSLR camera to start shipping in October with a 2,000 Euros price tag

Tiendapentaxeros reports that the Pentax full frame DSLR camera is supposed to start shipping in October this year with a 2,000 Euros price tag (around $2,200, US prices are usually lower). Ricehigh believes that this information is correct since Tiendapentaxeros has a very good connection with Pentax headquarter.

  • nice price…

    • jojo

Nice price? Nice scam, taking €800 pre-order payments at this stage!

  • SimenO

I believe thats a wild guess in the middle of the range of possible prices. They cant miss very much with that.

    • Cynog

You may be right, but I hope it will be in that ball park. I’ve started saving already.

      • SimenO

I guess Tiendapentaxeros guessed in the right ball park. I started saving too, but have not decided on tactic yet:
        – Save fast and pre-order to get mine in reasonable time or
        – Save slow and wait until supply catches up with demand and hope for a price fall in between. It might be a quite while of painful waiting, for a few hundred dollars saved. While waiting i might buy the fisheye and a normal i’m missing for a FF camera.

  • hje

nice price for a 3D-printed dummy

  • Mannol

I do not understand – wich lenses they going to use with this FF camera? As i know Pentax have not any FF lens..

    • Bob

      You know nothing then: FA 35mm f/2, FA 50mm f/1.4, DFA 50mm f/2.8 macro, DFA 100mm f/2.8 macro, FA 31mm f/1.8 ltd, FA 43mm f/1.8 ltd, FA 77mm f/1.8 ltd… And then all the 2nd hand market.

      • SH*T666

You are right, but Pentax has a lot of work to do with FF lenses. They only have a couple of zoom FF lenses avalaible and still don´t have a lens “roadmad” published. In fact the camera is still to be announced. I really can´t understand how they accept preorders in such an early stage.

        • Thibouille

You should look more carefully. Pentax definitely has a lens roadmap.

          • SH*T666

Maybe I am wrong about it, could you send the link to FF lenses roadmap, please? As long as I know, only two new lenses are announced.

          • SimenO

“As long as I know…” Thats where you start failing. Look again.

I have several FF zooms for the upcoming camera and its still at least half a year until launch. All I miss for my upcoming camerabag is a fisheye and normal prime. Easy to find, but i have plenty of time to plan, choose and look for bargains.

      • Les

2nd hand? This story might end-up like the 645d: get your used lenses before the camera is released, because the supply of good lenses will dry-up very quickly.

    • hoopsontoast

And the announced HD Pentax-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8ED DC AW and HD Pentax-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6ED DC AW.

    • SH*T666

Partly you are right. They don´t have any FF lens especially made for digital photography.

      • Chaza C

Wrong – DFA are for digital photography. In any case the FA glass works just as well on digital.

        • SH*T666

You are wrong. These two DFA lenses have been announced, not produced, with the legend “2015 or later”

          • SimenO

There is plenty of FA and FA* lenses, plus 3. party, plus older ones like FAJ, A and M, plus the upcoming zooms, plus other lenses used with adapters (645, 6×7 and more).

Turn this around. If you should equip your camera bag with a Pentax FF in october 2015 including lenses, what would you choose and what would you really miss?

          • Chaza C

Nope – there are already 3 DFA lenses in production: SMC Pentax-D FA 50mm F2.8 Macro, SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro and SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR. I know because I have the D FA 100mm f2.8. Check here if you don’t believe me

  • TinusVerdino

Rice High believes it correct… well I’ll just buy the book about a camera that isn’t there yet just to reserve one……
