Panasonic GH5 camera delayed because of too many pre-orders, first unboxing videos posted online

Panasonic Japan issued the now already standard warning that the GH5 shipments will be delayed because of the large amount of pre-orders. The Panasonic GH5 camera was first introduced at Photokina last year, while pre-orders opened in early January. The new US shipping date is now listed as March 30th at B&H and Adorama.

Here are two Panasonic GH5 unboxing videos and a high ISO video test:

I can believe it. the Gh4 is used by many videogs, the gh5 has the specs. priceda bit high though.

    • As camera sales go down, prices will go up – this is valid for all manufacturers and is already happening.

“As camera sales go down, prices will go up – this is valid for all manufacturers and is already happening.”

        Very true!

In the meantime, a proper high ISO video test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bviXNVChnwI

        • Thanks, I will add this to my post.

I know many wedding videosg have been posting about thr gh5 on fb groups salivating

        • For video I assume?

          • Eno

We plan to use several GH5 cameras for both video and stills, together with a Nikon D800.
The video is only half of the story. 🙂

    BS…
Let’s say they had expected 10,000 preorders and were manufacturing that many in advance, for their release date, but received 100,000 preorders, they can still ship the 10,000 on time, but the remainder will still be delayed by the same amount of time, they either want to flood the shipments all at once, or they are having issues.

    • sickheadache

IF they only produced for release 5,000 copies and sold out…They are selling like hotcakes. Then they say…Because of high demand, expect delays.

    • Zeneti

Think about what you are saying, and then think about what is actually meant by the manufacture, not the idiot who run this site who lacks any skill set in journalism.

Using your example, those 10,000 WILL BE SHIPPED, hence you are seeing first unboxing and reviews. But that remaining 90,000 who had hoped to get theirs in the first shipment date, will not, THEIR PRE-ORDERS ARE DELAYED, not the first 10,000.

Now you need to go to see a doctor because your attitude and your anger issues are uncontrollable by little you.

I love the smell of horsesh!t in the morning.

  • There is likely a legitimate reason for the delay and if it’s to correct a minor issue that fine, a smooth launch without any serious defects is always prefered to shipping too early and having issues. The excuse “too many pre orders is causing the delay” just doesn’t ring true.

    • I doubt there is a reason, issuing such statement is now pretty much the standard for every major new release.

  • Sakaphoto Graphics

This is the same as I experienced waiting for the GH3 and GH4.

They’re probably worried about producing too many upfront.

As Eunice said.”That’s a new one Momma”

  • Ivan Kutsarov

Oh yes, let’s just hold production on marketing purpose, just to make hype, so we generate extra talk and posts like this. Everyone will thinks this is something like rare unicorn camera with inceredible demand so it’s must be good. Olympus is a champ in doing these kind of things, selling theirs overpriced Chinese plastic toylike crap, Sony is doing this too and now Panasonic.

    • Yes, the sad part is that more manufacturers are doing that. I am sure somebody got a promotion coming up with this crap. And for $2,000 I really don’t see how the GH5 will be selling like hot cakes.

      • Eno

The Gh4 sold like hotcakes at 1700$. I don’t see the reason way the Gh5 who’d not have a similar success, especially with its unrivaled video specs. 🙂

I called into CameraWorld London (great store, fantastic helpful staff) yesterday to complete the part exchange deal for my new GH5. When I enquired when the GH5 would be arriving they informed me that the delivery date would not be before the 30th March, which I expected and could be later, which I did not! As Jessops were a few minutes walk away I called in there and they said that their understanding was that due to an unprecedented demand they were expecting the cameras mid April or early May! Any one have any idea when the Panasonic DC-GH5 will be available in the UK?
