New mystery lens from Meyer Optik Gorlitz will be unveiled tomorrow on Kickstarter

Meyer Optik Gorlitz will be unveiling a new lens tomorrow (Thursday) on Kickstarter. This is what we know so far:

  • "The final jewel of our Trioplan Trilogy of lenses" (in addition to the Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/2.9 lenses pictured above)
  • "Soap bubble bokeh"
  • It will be a fast wide angle lens - here is a photo taken with the lens:

Here is the full email I received today:

  • After the 100/2.8 and 50/2.9, logic dictates that the next lens should be the 25/3.0. 🙂
And with an even more outlandish price than the first two. 😀

I guess, I’m looking forward to the 12.5mm/f3.1 afterall …

No interest in this lens but I suspect 28mm as that was a classic film focal length.

Funny how a Chinese startup Laowa can produce so many original and high quality lenses, yet an ancient German company with over 100 years of history is still making overpriced/overhyped junk

    • Jeffry De Meyer

That is the point of the company, get money out of the wallets of idiotic hipsters.
That German company is just some people who bought the rights to the name

    • MB

This has nothing to do with Meyer Optik, that company does not exist for more than 70 years …
German company net se bought Meyer Optik name and is selling lens made in China and repackaged in Germany …
