Interview with Sigma’s CEO

A recap of the Focus Numerique interview with Sigma’s CEO Kazuto Yamaki at the 2018 CP+ show:

  • Sigma will develop new full-frame mirrorless lenses for Sony E-mount (only the wide angle lenses can be made smaller)
  • Sigma will make more DSLR lenses available in Sony E-mount in the future
  • Sigma will develop new zoom lenses for Nikon.Canon DSLR cameras
  • The new Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art lens is not available in Nikon F-mount because of the new autofocus motor they implemented in the lens (similar to the Nikon AF-P lenses)
  • The new Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens is much bigger than the Nikon version because it offers less vignetting (2 EV for the Nikon lens at f/1.4 vs. 1.6 EV for the Sigma lens)

Another interview with Sigma’s CEO can be found at Mizuwari – they discuss plastic lenses, curved sensors, Foveon tech and medium format.
