Leaked press releases of the upcoming Fuji announcements

Here are the three leaked press releases (in German) of the upcoming Fuji products and firmware updates that will be announced in the next few hours (for more info see the previous Fuji-related blog posts):

New FUJINON GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR telephoto lens and 1.4x teleconverter and extension rings for the FUJIFILM GFX 50S

Kleve, April 12, 2018. FUJIFILM announces the launch of its FUJINON GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR teleconverter and FUJINON GF1.4X TC WR 1.4x teleconverter for the mirrorless medium format GFX 50S. With this, GFX photographers are opening up many new possibilities for creative telephoto shots.

In addition, FUJIFILM will launch the MCEX-18G WR and MCEX-45G WR intermediate rings, which will expand the macro capabilities of the GFX system. Users now have access to a comprehensive range of focal lengths that significantly expands the photographic application of the GFX.

The GF250mmF4, the 1.4x teleconverter and the two intermediate rings will be available from May 2018 onwards.

FUJINON GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR
The GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR, whose focal length is approximately 198mm (equivalent to KB), provides very high resolution performance that already meets the requirements of future camera generations. Combined with the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter, this results in a focal length of about 277mm (equivalent to KB) without any compromise on image quality.

The lens has the new “Focus Preset” feature, which allows the photographer to recall previously stored focus settings at the touch of a button. The weatherproof housing is sealed against splash water and dust, reliable in professional use, even in adverse weather conditions.

With the GF250mmF4 and the 1.4x teleconverter, the number of available GF lenses has increased to a total of eight. It achieves superior imaging performance in conjunction with the GFX 50S’s large medium format (43.8 × 32.9mm) sensor, which is about 1.7 times larger than a 35mm format sensor.

Due to the excellent detail reproduction and the expressive color reproduction, the lenses of the GFSeries are very popular among professional photographers and demanding photo enthusiasts. In addition to the high image sharpness, they particularly appreciate the ability to render the atmosphere of a motif scene true to reality and with a nearly three-dimensional appearance. Many users have also convinced the user-friendly design and intuitive operating concept of FUJIFILM’s digital medium format system.

Special features of the FUJINON GF250mmF4 R LM OIS RW:

(1) Very high imaging performance
The optical design comprises 16 elements in 10 groups, including a super ED and two ED lenses, the chromatic Reduce aberrations and for the excellent imaging performance of Lens care. The super ED lens minimizes annoying color fringing over the entire focus area. The Close-Setting limit of GF250mmF4 is included 140 cm, which is 0.22 times Magnification corresponds and the recording Tele-macro shooting with a great bokeh effect.

(2) Five-level image stabilization
The lens is equipped with a powerful image stabilization system, which allows up to 5 EV steps longer exposure time according to CIPA guidelines. This allows the photographer, even with freehand telephoto, in the Medium format prone to blur is to take advantage of the maximum focus performance of the GFX sensor.

(3) Focus limitation and focus preset
Among the newly developed features of the lens is a focus limitation (“focus limiter”), which reduces the active focus area to the relevant area, allowing for faster focusing. In addition, certain distance settings can be saved (“focus preset”) and, if necessary, directly controlled via the focus buttons on the front of the lens. You can also access the “Focus Lock” (AF-Lock) and autofocus settings using these buttons. *

(4) Silent high-speed autofocus
The autofocus is powered by a silent, high-precision and fast linear motor. In addition, the lens has a mechanism that locks the current focus position when the user turns off the camera or enters the playback mode.

(5) Robust, weatherproof case
The lens barrel is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy. The housing was sealed at 18 points against the ingress of dust and spray water. The full range of functions of the lens can also be used at low temperatures to minus 10 degrees. The front lens has a water and dirt repellent fluorine coating, which contributes to the special outdoor suitability of the lens.

* The focus keys and the focus preset function are available after the firmware update (version 3.10) of the FUJIFILM GFX 50S.

Teleconverter FUJINON GF1.4X TC WR
Parallel to the telephoto lens GF250mmF4, FUJIFILM presents the new 1.4x teleconverter GF1.4X TC WR, which allows telephoto shots with a focal length of 350mm (about 277mm KB equivalent) without compromising the high image quality of the lens. The light intensity of the lens is reduced by one stop. Since the converter after the same quality guidelines that apply to all GF lenses, the GF250mmF4’s optical potential (MTF) remains virtually intact even with the teleconverter attached.

Macro Extension Tubes MCEX-18G WR and MCEX-45G WR

The new MCEX-18G WR and MCEX-45G WR (18mm and 45mm) spacers significantly expand the macro capabilities of the GFX system. In conjunction with any available GF lens, you can take macro shots with much larger magnifications. Depending on the required magnification, the photographer may choose to use the 18mm or 45mm spacer ring. The combination of GF120mmF4 R LM OIS WR Macro (magnification 1: 2) and MCEX-45G WR, for example, enables macro images with a magnification ratio of 1: 1.
