Ricoh interview: full-frame GR camera is not a good idea, a curved sensor was not considered for the GR III

Mobile01 interviewed Noguchi Hiroshi from Ricoh (general manager of the Smart Vision Business Division, Camera Division, and Product Planning Department) on the upcoming Ricoh GR III camera. Here is the recap PentaxRumors published yesterday:

  • Ricoh can put a full frame sensor in the GR and make it about the same size as the GR III, but there will be some compromises, such as the quality of the lens. Ricoh thinks APS-C is the most balanced choice.
  • Rioch never considered a curved sensor for the GR III.
  • No plans for a full frame GR camera for now.
  • The GRIII was developed about a year and a half to two years ago.
