Tamron is still researching the possibility of developing mirrorless lenses for Nikon Z and Canon R mounts

The French website Phototrend published their interview with Tamron executives:

  • Three new lenses in development for 2019
  • The new 35mm f/1.4 lens should have a very good image quality
  • Tamron still doesn't know if they will develop mirrorless lenses for Nikon Z and Canon RF mounts - they are still researching the new mounts
  • It takes Tamon approximately 1.5 years to develop a new lens - that means the earliest we can see new mirrorless lenses for Nikon Z and Canon R mounts is in early 2020
  • Tamron thinks it is important for them to offer lenses for Nikon Z and Canon R
