January 2020 CIPA numbers are out and they are all bad: double digits decline almost everywhere


CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association in Japan) published their Janaury 2020 report (orange: 2020, black: 2019, blue: 2018, click for larger view):

DSLR Units: 227K, -30%
DSLR Shipped Value: ¥10.7 million -27%
Mirrorless Units: 219K , -1%
Mirrorless Shipped Value: ¥15.8 million -15%
Compact Units: 358K, -21%
Compact Shipped Value: ¥6.8 million -17%

Lenses for smaller than 35mm Units: 489K, -18%
Lenses for smaller than 35mm Shipped Value: ¥6.7 million, -15%
Lenses for 35mm and larger Units: 308K, -17%
Lenses for 35mm and larger Shipped Value: ¥14.6 million, -17%

Mirrorless unit share (of Mirrorless + DSLR) 49% (was 41% January 2019)

Mirrorless Shipped Value share 59.7% (was 56.2% January 2019, but was 61.8% in December 2019)
