Flashback: Zeiss has still not announced any new photography lenses in 3 years

Back in 2020 I raised some concerns that Zeiss has not announced any new lenses since April 2019 when they introduced the Zeiss Otus 100mm f/1.4 lens for DSLR cameras. Then last year Zeiss announced four new Supreme Radiance Prime cinema lenses. Nothing else has changed in the past 3+ years, except that now DSLR cameras are basically dead and probably nobody is buying the Otus lenses. Many of the Zeiss lenses for Leica M-mount are no longer available. If you look at the Zeiss section of PhotoRumors, you will find some posts about Zeiss price increases and some old coverage of the Zeiss ZX1 camera that never really got any traction and it is still selling for $6k at Adorama and B&H Photo.

It does seem that Zeiss is done with their photography business. What do you think?

Where are the new Zeiss lenses?

Zeiss is alive: they announced four new Supreme Radiance Prime cinema lenses today

Zeiss has no imminent plans for more updated ZM lenses (for Leica M mount)
