Viltrox: “We have been told by Canon to stop selling all RF mount products”


It seems that Canon is actively preventing 3rd parties from releasing mirrorless lenses for RF mount - take a look at this conversation between a customer and the Chinese lens manufacturer Viltrox:


Viltrox basically confirms that Canon told them "to stop selling all RF mont products".

I am not sure about the legal aspects of using the Canon RF mount, but the latest lenses coming out from China have been excellent and significantly improved from the lenses we were getting a few years ago. Servicing a Chinese lens could still be a problem, but given their prices, you can just buy a new one. Here are some of the Chinese lens manufacturers I have been using in the last few years:
