The Widest Rectilinear Lens with Zero Distortion for MFT Laowa 6mm f/2 Zero-D MFT

Anhui China, 20 December 2022 – Venus Optics, now offering a photo version of their previously released 6mm T2.1 Cine lens. The new 6mm f/2 Zero-D MFT have the same exceptional image quality as the cine version but with more to offer. It is now packed with electrical contacts which allow users to control the aperture through the camera body and have EXIF being recorded. This tiny 188g lens can capture a 121.9° angle-of-view with close-to-zero distortion. With an f/2 large aperture and a 9cm closest focusing distance, the lens can create some very interesting perspectives.

The widest rectilinear MFT lens with a 121.9° AoV
The Laowa 6mm f/2 Zero-D is a breakthrough as the widest rectilinear option in the MFT market. With a 121.9° ultra-wide angle, the lens captivated users with the ability to capture more details in a scene and exaggerated perspective in tight space. Perfect for landscape, astrophotography, architectural or drone shots.

Zero Distortion
The optical design contains 13 elements in 9 groups with 2 aspherical glasses, controlling distortion to the minimum even with such an ultra-wide angle. Perfect for shooting architecture and interiors. Saving photographer efforts to correct it in post.

Large aperture of f/2
The large aperture of f/2 increases the flexibility of the lens to shoot under dim light conditions. It is also easier for the lens to separate the subject from the background.

9cm extraordinarily short minimum focusing distance
The shortest focusing distance is 9cm (3.54") which allows photographers to get very close to the subject and create visually impactful images. It is also favourable in creating shallower depth-of-field when shooting close-ups, and that helps create a stronger bokeh effect.

Auto Aperture
The Laowa 6mm f/2 MFT is assembled with a CPU chip and motor. The focus magnifier will be triggered for easier focusing when rotating the focus ring. It also allows the adjustment of the aperture via the camera body. Moreover, the metadata will be stored on EXIF.

58mm filter thread
The lens comes with a 58mm filter thread, photographers are able to screw in a circular filter directly without any need for filter holders.

10-point Sunstar
The lens has 5 aperture blades which can easily generate nice 10-point Sunstars simply by stopping down the aperture.
