The new Voigtlander NOKTON 50mm f/1 Aspherical lens for Canon RF-mount to be released in October 2023

Cosina announced that the new Voigtlander NOKTON 50mm f/1 Aspherical lens for Canon RF-mount will be released on October 26, 2023. The lens already exists for Nikon Z and Leica M mount (price: $1,800). Additional information on the lens, including technical specifications and sample photos, can be found here:

Cosina has announced a new Canon RF-mount lens from the Voigtlander brand, NOKTON 50mm F1 Asperical RF-mount.
NOKTON 50mm F1 Aspherical is Cosina's first Canon RF mount lens with electronic contacts, and is an ultra-large aperture manual focus standard lens that achieves the brightest F1 among Voigtlander's full-frame interchangeable lenses. Covering a full-size image circle, the optical design follows the existing VM mount and Nikon Z mount lenses, while being optimized for the Canon EOS R system camera image sensor. It is designed to reflect the performance of the lens itself as an image, without relying on the electronic lens optical correction function within the camera. This lens is equipped with electronic contacts to enable electrical communication between the lens and the body. In combination with the Canon EOS R system body, it supports Exif information, in-body image stabilization (3 axes), and three types of focus assist functions (enlarged display, peaking, and focus guide).

NOKTON 50mm F1 Aspherical uses an in-house produced GA (Grinded Aspherical) lens to obtain sufficient drawing performance even when the aperture is wide open, resulting in a super large F1 aperture lens with a tight style. Additionally, by adopting a floating mechanism that moves specific lens groups to optimal positions depending on the shooting distance, stable image quality can be obtained from the shortest shooting distance to distant motifs.

The shortest shooting distance is 0.45m, and focusing is manual focus only. The metal focus ring uses a diamond pattern with excellent grip. One of its features is the silky, greased operating feel of the high-precision metal helicoid that can withstand even severe focusing when the aperture is wide open.

The aperture is mechanically controlled directly connected to the operating ring, and is adjusted on the lens side rather than the command dial on the camera side. The aperture ring has a click switching mechanism that allows you to open and close the aperture steplessly without being affected by clicks, such as when shooting videos or making fine depth of focus adjustments. The diaphragm has 12 lenses, and it depicts out-of-focus areas of point light sources in a neat manner. A special metal lens hood is also included.

NOKTON 50mm F1 Asperical RF-mount: Suggested retail price (tax included) ¥264,000
JAN code 4530076 236011
