Aurora Aperture Introduces Gnu 5-in-1 Modular Tripod System

Irvine, California, October 15th, 2023 - Aurora Aperture Inc. today has introduced a revolutionary tripod system, Gnu 5-in-1 modular tripod. The magic of the Gnu modular tripod system lies in its intelligent design: splitting a tripod into two autonomous yet interconnected modules, sturdy legs forming the bedrock, and a versatile support module connecting to your camera.

“Inspired by the flexibility of interchangeable lens cameras, the Gnu modular system extends the versatility to tripods.” said Jeff Chen, founder and CEO of Aurora Aperture Inc., “With just one set of tripod and accessories, you will get five different tripod configurations to suit various shooting needs."

Modularity

Designed in California, The Gnu modular system can morph from a simple column-less tripod, to a central column that can raise 13 inches in a snap, a horizontal column to support multiple cameras, a leveling head to tilt 15 degrees in any direction, or a tripod with an integrated ball head. The integrated ball head is fastened to the leg module using three screws, providing unparalleled stability, it is Arca Swiss plate compatible and also panoramic capable.

FilaWoven™ carbon fiber tubes

Most tripods in the market are built by roll wrapping pre-made carbon fiber sheets around metal tubes - effective, but limited. We start to build the best foundation by using FilaWoven™ carbon fiber tubes using an advanced filament winding process.
In this process, carbon fiber strands are wound onto a rotating mandrel continuously, forming robust hollow tubes. This yields unparalleled consistency and accuracy in fiber alignment, creating tubes of remarkable strength, stiffness and durability. The process is commonly used in critical environments like airplane fuselages, rocket fuel tanks, and race cars, where high strength is required.

Tripod sizes

Two leg module sizes are available:

  • The Series 2 G24 handles full frame cameras and most interchangeable lenses with grace, with payload of 55 lb (25kg).
  • The larger Series 3 G34 provides rock-solid support for heavy pro cameras and telephoto lenses, as well as heavy slider setups. It can support up to 77 lb (35kg).

Both G24 and G34 are four section tripods. Multiple 1/4” threaded holes are featured on the tripod crown for accessories such as extension arms.

Warranty

All Gnu tripod products are covered under a lifetime warranty.

Availability and Pricing

The Gnu 5-in-1 modular tripod system will be available through indiegogo.com crowdfunding in October 2023 and to the general public as well as dealers in February 2024. The price will start from $429.
