Panasonic’s latest videos provide hints about new/upcoming cameras and lenses

Panasonic’s latest videos provide hints about new cameras and lenses:

In the first video, there are several hints about a new camera:

  • Around the 0:27 mark, creator Piotr Kwasnik says he has collected many LUMIX cameras over the years (“I think I might be addicted”), then adds something like “Wait a minute. There’s one more.” The edit cuts away before showing what it is. Later (around 6:13), another creator says they can’t wait to see where LUMIX goes next.

In the next video, there are several additional hints:

  • A compact camera with an EVF (S9-style): The hosts express a strong desire for a compact, full-frame camera similar to the Lumix S9, but with a built-in electronic viewfinder (EVF) [26:47]. The Panasonic rep notes that this is a highly requested feature and playfully teases that they “might do something like the G100,” leaving the door open for a small camera that incorporates a viewfinder [25:47].
  • An “LC1” spiritual successor: The panel reminisces about the classic Lumix LC1 and suggests a modern camera built around a similar concept. They even joke that if a camera based on these ideas is eventually released, viewers should rewatch this video and remember they predicted it here [29:25].
  • Thin 28mm and 50mm prime lenses: There is a specific request for Panasonic to develop thin, pancake-style 28mm and 50mm prime lenses to pair with their compact bodies [28:04].
  • A 35mm f/1.4 lens: A photographer heavily praises the 50mm f/1.4 lens and explicitly requests a large, high-quality 35mm f/1.4 equivalent. The Panasonic rep acknowledges this request and states he will take the idea back to the development team to see what can be done [34:20].
