OM-1 camera announced and the only “wow” factor is the price

The previously rumored OM-1 camera and two new MFT lenses are now officially announced, but I still fail to see the “wow” factor except the price tag of $2,199.99… Oh, and yes, the new OM-1 still has a 20MP sensor in 2022. I guess OM System never understood why Olympus failed in the first place.

Update: the OM-1 uses a new Sony Quad Bayer sensor.

The official OM System website is still not updated with the new products – not a good start… stay tuned, I will update this post once I find more info on the new camera and lenses (most details leaked already).

Key features of the OM-1 camera:

  • Backside Illuminated Quad Stacked CMOS Sensor
  • 1053 Phase Detect, Cross Quad Pixels AF
  • AF points cover 100% of the image
  • Up To 120fps in Single AF
  • Up To 50fps in Continuous AF
  • TruePic X Processor 60x more power
  • 5.76 Million Dot EVF
  • Live ND64 (6 Stop ND)
  • IP53 Dust, Splash and Freeze Proof
  • 4K video Up To 60p
  • Full HD Video Up To 240p
  • Up To 4:2:2 10 Bit Internal Recording
  • New User Interface

I guess the OM-1 is the first camera that has two different company brands – Olympus and OM System:
