Adobe started significantly increasing their profit back in 2015 when they began switching customers to the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Adobe just reported that their Creative revenue hit a new record and exceeded $1 billion in Q2 (back in December 2016 Adobe also reported record revenue and net income):

Adobe UK announced that will increase their Creative Cloud prices (see current rates) in the UK on March 6, 2017 because citing currency fluctuations. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the price increase could be between 10% and 60% (update: the price increase will not be more than 33%):
Adobe recently updated their website and apparently you no longer can purchase Adobe Creative Suite 6 as of January 9th, 2017. The only way to get the latest versions of Photoshop or Illustrator is with a Creative Cloud membership (see pricing):
