Similar to Nikon, Sony’s compact system camera production in Ayutthaya, Thailand is halted due to the recent flooding: “The factory has stopped operation since 6 Oct and the company said it will stop operation until 14. Operation may resume on Oct 17 depending on the situation.” Via PEN

Sony to offer firmware update v1.03 for A65 and A77, lubrication for NEX-5N

Sony A900 discontinued in Japan

Sony Japan confirmed to DCWatch the discontinuation of the a900 model camera for Japan. This is not really something new since the a900 was listed as discontinued on Sony’s Hong Kong website back in May of 2010. For the US, Amazon currently shows only 20 cameras left in stock.

Sony to releases a new firmware for A65 and A77

Sony promises fix to clicking sound when recording video with the NEX-5N

Several users have reported a clicking sound coming out of the new Sony NEX-5N during video recording (see above clip). It seems that Sony has acknowledged the problem and is promising a “performance improvement”. Here is a quote from Sony support site:

Sony NEX-5N unboxing video

The first Sony NEX-5N unboxing video is already out: According to the Sony Store the camera should start shipping on August 31st, 2011. B&H is also accepting pre-orders, which is also a sign of an incoming shipment.
