→ The Zeiss Planar 50mm f/0.7 lens was originally designed for NASA:
One of the largest aperture lenses in the history of photography: the ZEISS Planar 0.7/50. It was originally designed for NASA. In order to take pictures of the “dark” side of the moon, they needed an extremely light sensitive and fast lens. Back in 1966, we created only ten such lenses, six of which went to NASA, one we kept for ourselves. And the other three, you wonder? Exceptional director Stanley Kubrick used them in the 1970s to shoot the famous scene in Barry Lyndon that was only lit by candlelight.
