The latest Pentax 645z medium format camera updates

Few Pentax 645z updates:

The Pentax 645z camera is currently in stock at B&H (the 645d model is still available for $4,996.95).

The above picture is the new Pentax DA 645 28-45mm f/4.5 ED AL SDM AW SR wide-angle medium format zoom lens that was listed on the roadmap for 2014 (via digicame-info). For pricing and availability of all Pentax 645 lenses, see this link.
Pentax/Ricoh is going to release new tethering software for the 645z in September during the 2014 Photokina show (via DC.Watch).

Canon teaser: “Something BIG is coming”

Canon India posted a new teaser on Facebook with the text “Get your camera ready, something BIG is coming“. New products are often released few months later in India and this ad could also be for something that is already officially announced in the rest of the world. Just a reminder that few years ago Nikon also had a “BIG” campaign that turned out to be a Blues Traveler concert:

Pictures of upcoming Pentax Q-S1 mirrorless camera leak online

It seems that Pentax will be announcing a new Q2 mirrorless camera at Photokina – the first images already leaked on the Japanese digicame-info website. The name of the new model could also be Q-S1 (or Q2) and it will be available in black, gold, white and gunmetal colors. Detailed specifications are not yet available.

Update: the new of the new camera will be Q-S1.

Canon EOS 7D DSLR camera listed as discontinued at Amazon

The Canon EOS 7D DSLR camera is listed as discontinued at Amazon (still available from third party sellers). Rumors for a new Canon EOS 7D Mark II model has been floating around since 2011 (almost as long as the mythical Nikon D400). If this camera doesn’t get announced at Photokina this September, I doubt it will ever come out.

Rokinon/Samyang still planning to release a new 50mm f/1.2 lens

A reader contacted Rokinon and asked about the previously rumored 50mm f/1.2 lens. Referring to a Facebook post from February 2014 where Samyang Asia said that they will not release such lens, Rokinon responded that they are still working on a new 50mm lens that will be released “very soon“:

Sony a5100 and Sony QX30 cameras listed on Korea Radio Research Laboratory website

The Korea Radio Research Laboratory website has two new registrations for a Sony a5100 and QX30 cameras. Few weeks ago the a5100 model was also registered at the Indonesian Communication Agency website. The new camera will replace the current α5000 and will most likely be announced at Photokina. The QX30 will be a replacement for the current QX10 lens camera module for smart phones.
