Rings of fire (k-mount adapter for Samsung NX10)

The previously rumored K-mount adapter for Samsung NX10 already surfaced online (source: PentaxForum):

This adapter is expected not to support AF.

And if you are wondering whether Leica lenses could be mounted on the Samsung NX10 with an adapter, the answer from petavoxel is no:

“The quoted flange distance of the new NX mount is 25.5mm. The Leica M bayonet is 27.8mm. That sounds like good news, right? A whole 2.3mm to spare? Unfortunately, No. The tabs of the M bayonet extend behindthe flange by almost 7mm, and are 43.5mm in diameter. Thus they would collide with the inner throat of the NX mount. Doesn’t look like an M-mount adapter is going to happen. (Or, not one that can focus at infinity, anyway).”

Apple Aperture 3.0 on January 27th?

Not clear whether the new Aperture will be called "3" or "X"

Rumors are already circulating that besides the expected Apple iSlate tablet device, we may also see a new version of Aperture on January 27th. Aperture 2 was released back in February, 2008 and is due for an update.

There was this rumor few months ago about a new Aperture 3.0 book that was quickly removed from Amazon:

“The book is listed as “Apple Aperture X (3) – UNDER NDA: A Workflow Guide for Digital Photographers,” and the 320-page paperback from Focal Press has a release date of May 26, 2010, perhaps suggesting a timeframe for the forthcoming software’s release. The forthcoming book’s ISBN number is 978-0240521787.”

Panasonic Lumix rumors

Panasonic Singapore’s website (http://www.panasonic.com.sg/lumixg/) had this banner for a new site launch which will probably correspond to a new Panasonic Lumix camera being release at the same time (in 15 days, which means February 1st). The text under the “Register now” button was “Be one of the 1st to see our new range of camera products”.

At the same time Panasonic Lumix G1 camera has been labeled as “discontinued”:

How about those lenses? Here is the Panasonic MicroFourthThirds lens roadmap – three lenses are scheduled for 2010:

Is it a Sony or is it a Nikon?

Big dsicussion over at NikonRumors about this picture of Bob Krist. Apparently he is “shooting another one of those jobs that I can’t share with you (until the client uses the pictures) and it’s a gig that I can’t even show you the gear I’m using (that’s proprietary too).”

The question remains, is the camera a Nikon or a Sony?

Sony α700 removed also from US website

After Sony UK, Sony’s own email and B&H now also Sony US has removed the α700 from their website:

The replacement, probably called α750, is expected to be released before or at PMA (February 21-23, 2010). The initial rumors were for a CES announcement (together with the  α450). The Sony α750 is not expected to have video recording capabilities.

The other interesting part in the above picture is that the new Sony α450 will not be available for sale in the US (not listed on Sony’s US website).

Samsung rumors

Samsung applied for a patent on a 28mm f1.4 with 75 deg FOV, 44 mm image diagonal lens (35mm full frame). Why would they be interested in full frame lenses is beyond me, especially when there is a very low chance for Samsung to re-enter the DSLR market. Yes, the Samsung GX DSLR line is dead (source). In the future, concentration will be on the just released NX product line. The Samsung NX10 (listed @ B&H for $699.99) will be the first in a series of future NX products (source).

On another note, CNet Asia spotted a flier at Samsung’s CES booth with a drawing of a 3D camera. The design looks very similar to Fuji’s 3D camera.

Tamron is expected to release two new zoom lenses in the first quarter of 2010: 70-300 VC and 18-200.

Do not have all the details, but the two new products will probably be replacements of the current Tamron AF 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro (released 2005) and AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom (released 2006) lenses.
