The Verge published a nice video recap from Photokina: the megapixels war is over, sensor size war is just starting up. Some of the new cameras announced at Photokina 2012, like the Nikon D600, Canon 6D, Leica M-E, Sony RX1 show a new trend: many manufacturers are producing smaller and “more affordable” full frame cameras. Several companies like Pentax, Sony, Panasonic and even Fuji hinted that they are also considering/investigating full frame cameras.

At the upcoming PhotoPlus show in New York (October 24-27) Canon may preview a new high megapixel DSLR camera with 46.1MP sensor, 5fps, 16bit and an ISO range of 100-12800. Canon is rumored to introduce also a newly designed sensor that will be used in the upcoming 7D2, 70D and 700D models that are expected to be announced in 2013. Two new f/4 telephoto lenses are rumored for January, 2012.
This Amazon video demonstrating the 6D Wi-Fi capabilities has a reference to a Canon EOS 4D model.

According to Reuters, Sony will invest $642 million for a 10% stake of Olympus:
“Sony Corp will likely approve a plan this week to invest 50 billion yen ($642 million) in cash-strapped Olympus Corp, becoming its biggest shareholder with around a 10 percent stake, three sources familiar with the deal told Reuters.”
Based on previous reports, both companies are expected to work together on developing medical devices and digital camera components.

Samyang added another lens to their VDSLR lens product line. The new T.1.5 85mm AS IF UMC is based on their standard 85mm f/1.4 lens ($329). Price and release dates were not released.
DxOMark published their test results for the Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera. With an overall score of 71, the E-M5 takes the top rank for all Micro Four Thirds cameras. At Photokina Olympus announced the E-PL5 and E-PM2 which use the same sensor as the E-M5. The Panasonic GH3 is not tested yet.
