The tip I just received about a new Sony digital binocular sounds more like a joke, but I thought I’d publish it anyway:
In addition to the NEX-7, NEX-5N, a77, a65 cameras and LA-EA2 adapter, Sony is expected to introduce also a successor to the NEX-VG10 E-mount Handycam Camcorder and a new digital binocular (combining a binocular with a digital camera?).
iCam prototype is camera that has a dock for an iPhone, similar to the Leica i9 concept:
With the iCam you can:
This “Blind camera“ has no optics:
“Buttons takes on this notion of the camera as a networked object. It is a camera that will capture a moment at the press of a button. However, unlike a conventional analog or digital camera, this one doesn’t have any optical parts. It allows you to capture your moment but in doing so, it effectively seperates it from the subject. Instead, as you will memorize the moment, the camera memorizes only the time and starts to continuously search on the net for other photos that have been taken in the very same moment.”
This camera can shoot 1,000,000 fps:
“In order to crank the camera up to it’s 1,000,000 FPS max, you have to drop the resolution down to 128 x 16, which is only okay if you’re looking at your TV through a telescope. The camera has a 16 gigapixel/second limit, so you have to find the balancing point between the resolution you want and the speed you want. You can shoot 1280 x 720 HD at 18,100, which is still extremely fast, and if you are willing to settle for a standard-def shot at 640×480 you can crank it all the way up to 43,400 FPS”
Sony introduced a new “WhiteMagic” 3 inch VGA LTPS TFT LCD screen:
Few months ago Samyang inquired about a potential tilt-shift lens on Facebook. A reader recently asked Rokinon about a possible tilt-shift lens and their response was “we are working on it”:
A dpreview forum member posted pictures of the three upcoming Sony NEX lenses: 50mm f/1.8, 24mm f/1.8 and 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3. Those lenses were shown as prototypes before and were listed on Sony NEX roadmap for 2011. Announcement date is August 24th (Nikon will also have a major press event on that date).
The latest update: Sony NEX 7 mirrorless camera will cost around $1000 and is expected to start shipping in November 2011. If you have missed my previous post, here are the rest of the specs:
Samyang just announced a new full frame 24mm f/1.4 lens that will be available for Canon, Four Thirds, Nikon AE, Pentax, Samsung NX and Sony Alpha mounts.
In the US you can purchase the same lens under the Rokinon brand at B&H.
