With the new LUMIX G9II camera, Panasonic will also announce two revised Leica DG Vario-Elmarit zoom lenses

Together with the LUMIX G9II camera, on September 13 Panasonic will also announce two revised Leica DG Vario-Elmarit zoom lenses –

  • Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 35-100mm f/2.8 Power O.I.S
  • Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 100-400mm f/4.0-6.3 II ASPH Power O.I.S. – replacement for the current model (it will now work with a teleconverter and achieves an image scale of 1:2)

As previously reported, the new Panasonic LUMIX G9II camera will have a new MFT sensor with a resolution of 25.2MP and will be equipped with phase AF on the sensor.

All new products will start shipping in November 2023.

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN Sports lens for Sony E and Leica L mount to be announced soon

The long-rumored Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN Sports lens is expected to be announced in the next few weeks – most likely in early October. The date floating online is October 6th, but this is highly unlikely since in the past only Leica and the Chinese brands made any major announcements on a Friday. The lens will be available for  Sony E and Leica L mounts. Sigma currently only has a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens for DSLR cameras.

Polaroid announced a new I-2 instant camera with built-in manual controls, LiDAR autofocus, and Bluetooth connectivity (replacement for the original i-Type). The price is $600 and pre-orders are already open at B&H Photo and Moment.



Polaroid I-2 key features:

  • Lens: 3-element lens with continuous autofocus system. Capable of ƒ/8 aperture across 0.4m (1.3′) – ∞ range controlled via a stepper motor. Material: optical grade polycarbonate and acrylic with anti-reflective coating.
  • LiDAR: high-accuracy ranging system
  • Built-in manual controls: camera modes, flash mode, distance to the object, shutter speed, aperture, and light meter indicator value are selectable on the camera and communicated through an integrated viewfinder display and external OLED display.
