A new putative class action lawsuit was filed in Pennsylvania against Ricoh USA Inc. for defects in the aperture control mechanism of the Pentax K-30 and Pentax K-50 cameras. The defect reportedly leads to consistently black or dark images:

The President and CEO of Sony Semiconductor Solutions (SSS) Terushi Shimizu gave this outlook for smartphone-equipped cameras:

“We expect that still images will exceed the image quality of single-lens reflex cameras within the next few years.”
