Latest Cosina patents indicate new Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR 25mm, 75mm and 135mm lenses?

Cosina has new patents for 25mm f/2, 75mm f/1.8, 135mm f/2, and 135mm f/1.2 lenses:

Cosina’s patent application was published on March 18, 2021. There are some examples such as “APO-LANTHAR 50mm F2”, but some of them are interesting such as “135mm F2” and “135mm F1.2”.

Voigtlander recently announced several new APO-LANTHAR lenses for Leica M and Sony E mounts and it makes sense to complete the APO-LANTHAR lineup with a few new focal lengths. The current APO-LANTHAR lenses are:

Sony to announce three new lenses next week

A quick update on my last blog post about the upcoming new Sony G lenses – my expectations of f/2.8 were “almost” accurate. The three new lenses that will be announced next week are (via Nokishita):

  • Sony FE 50mm f/2.5 G
  • Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G
  • Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G

The latest Canon rumors: EOS R5c, new RF mount CINE lenses, firmware updates

The latest Canon rumors:

  • Canon EOS R5c (cinema version of the current EOS R5) confirmed to be announced later this year
  • New Canon Cinema lenses are also coming in 2021, including the first RF mount CINE lenses
  • Firmware updates for the Canon EOS R5, EOS R6 and EOS-1D X Mark III to be released with new features

Capture One will support the Lossless Compression format for the new Sony Alpha 1 camera

Starting April 2021, Capture One will support the Lossless Compression format for the new Sony Alpha 1 camera. They also added a unique camera profile tailored to the Sony Alpha 1: the “ProStandard Profile” where “colors and details look more amazing than ever“.


All other Capture One ProStandard profiles were updated as well – see the full list of supported cameras.

Sony will announce three new compact G lenses according to Nokishita:

  • Sony FE 24mm
  • Sony FE 40mm
  • Sony FE 50mm

The apertures of the new lenses were not provided, but since the lenses were labeled as “compact”, I expect them all to be f/2.8.
