Canon Powershot G5 X Mark II premium compact camera additional information

The upcoming/rumored Canon Powershot G5 X Mark II will be a premium compact camera with 5x zoom, 20.1MP 1″ CMOS sensor, 4k video capabilities, 20 fps with one-point AF and 8 fps with continuous AF. The official announcement will be in early August.  The US pricing of the G5 X Mark II will be $899 (previous Mark I model price: $699).

Ricoh to announce a new HD Pentax-DA Fisheye 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 ED lens

Ricoh is rumored to announce a new HD Pentax-DA Fisheye 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 ED lens (pictured above) on July 26th. The Japanese price will be ¥ 67,500 including tax (or around $600). For comparisons, here is the current Pentax Fisheye SMCP-DA 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 ED (IF) model (priced at $446.95):

The latest camera global market share: Canon 40.5 %, Nikon 19.1 %, Sony 17.7 %

Here is the latest global market share:

  • Canon 40.5 % (+ 3.9)
  • Nikon 19.1 % (- 2.7)
  • Sony 17.7 % (- 0.7)
  • Fujifilm: 5.1 % (+ 1.3)
  • Olympus: 2.8 % (+ 0.1)

The digital camera market was down 22% in 2018. The top five companies hold 85.2% market share with a total of 20,290,000 units (-22.2%).
