Tokina Opera 16-28mm f/2.8 FF full-frame DSLR lens for Nikon F and Canon EF mounts to be announced on February 22nd


Tokina will officially announce a new Opera 16-28mm f/2.8 FF full-frame DSLR lens for Nikon F and Canon EF mounts on February 22nd. This lens was initially displayed at the 2018 Photokina show.

This will be the second Opera DSLR lens for Tokina after the 50mm f/1.4 FF.

Update #1 – The expected release date is March 15, 2019. The Japanese price is ¥94,500 including tax.

Olympus PEN-F camera now discontinued in Japan


The Olympus PEN-F camera is listed as discontinued in Japan (confirmed also by several Japanese retailers). I have been reporting for a while that Olympus is rumored to announce a new, small and light Olympus MFT camera (confirmed also by Olympus).

The Olympus PEN-F camera is now $999 in the US (was $1,199 when announced).

Several websites already published their hands-on reports with the new GRIII. The price is expected to be around €900 (the current GR II model is currently selling for $500). William Optics Redcat 51 APO 250mm f/4.9 telephoto full-frame lens on Kickstarter


There is a new crowdfunding project for a Redcat 250mm f/4.9 telephoto full-frame lens by William Optics on Kickstarter that already reached its financial goal (currently at $45,459 from the original $30,000 goal). The lens is described as “The world’s sharpest 250mm telephoto lens ever made for full frame cameras, at Apochromatic specification.” The company behind the project is William Optics, a 1996-founded manufacturer of refractor telescopes, binoculars, digital camera adapter lenses for telescopes, eyepieces, diagonals and other accessories.

Confirmed: IBIS coming to future Canon EOS R mirrorless cameras
