Olympus Russia claims that rumors about exiting the camera market are “not true”, confirms that the company is under a major transformation in an effort to continue as a global medical company

Olympus Russia is trying to set the record straight by claiming on Facebook that the report from Business Journal Japan about Olympus being forced to exit the digital camera market is “not true“…  The entire post is not very convincing, because the first sentence right after the “not true” part states that “Currently, Olympus is undergoing a comprehensive transformation program to continue its development as a global medical company“…

I don’t know if that report from Japan is true or not, but I am pretty sure that Olympus Russia also doesn’t have a clue what is going on in the boardroom of Olympus headquarter in Japan. Does anyone really expect anything else besides denial even if the rumors turn out to be correct?

Sony claims that theoretically they can make an f/0.63 E-mount lens

During the a6400 press event, Sony had an entire presentation on how the Sony E-mount was originally designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras and how they can (theoretically of course) make an f/0.63 E-mount lens. This response was targeted directly at Leica – in a Photokina interview with Leica executives on the new L-Mount Alliance, Stephan Schulz from Leica Camera AG claimed that the Sony E-mount was not designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras. There are several other articles online making the same claim. Here is the video from the presentation (watch from the 8:10 mark):
