There is a project online for an E-mount based film camera called LEX. See the details at lexoptical.com:

LEX is the first camera which lets you use your E-Mount lenses with your favorite film emulsions. So far it has taken us more than a year to get this design right. When we are done LEX will be an open source project but we may crowd fund a small batch of devices before opening the design files up.

Rumors: DxO Labs in bankruptcy or receiverships

Over a month ago I received a tip that DxO Mark/DxO Labs is in bankruptcy or for sale. Today CanonRumors confirmed this rumor (see also this link):

It looks like DxO Labs has gone into receivership for the purpose of reorganizing the company. DxO Labs deals with the software side of the DxO brand, as DxOMark deals with the testing of cameras and lenses. DxO Labs would likely be the ones dealing with the Nik Software plugins acquired from Google last year.

Bird photography at Machias Seal Island is a guest post by long-term reader AnimalsByBarry which many of you probably know from the comments section of NikonRumos and PhotoRumors (If you have an interesting idea for a guest post, you can contact me here):

This article is mostly to share great wildlife photography locations rather than going into a lot of detail about equipment. These places are so good that you can get great pictures no matter what you use. I paint animals, and my photos are only used as a reference for my paintings. You can visit my website www.animalsbybarry.com to see what I paint, or check out my Roadrunner pages where I will post articles about great locations and lots of photos.

The Machias Seal Island photos were taken with Nikon D810, Nikon 200-400 F4 VR II and teleconverter:
