Olympus Q1 financial results: revenue from mirrorless cameras is down 11% YoY (plus the latest financial results from Nikon and Fuji)


Olympus published their first quarter financial results for the 2019 FY. Here are the details for their Imaging Business:

  • Revenue down 8% YoY following lower mirrorless camera sales as a result of intensified competition and supply delays stemming from production base reorganization.
  • Operating loss posted due to the recording of ¥5.0 billion in expenses for production system reforms.
  • Revenue from mirrorless cameras is down 11% YoY, revenue from compact cameras is down 12% YoY (click for larger view):


Just a reminder that Olympus together with Fuji, Panasonic and Ricoh combined have a 12.7% global market share according to the latest data.

net SE, the company behind Meyer Optik Görlitz, Emil Busch, Oprema Jena, C.P. Goerz, Ihagee Elbaflex and A. Schacht filed for bankruptcy in Germany

Back in April, the German group net SE who is behind the Meyer Optik Görlitz, Emil Busch A.-G. Rathenau, Oprema Jena, C.P. Goerz, Ihagee Elbaflex and A. Schacht brands and several successful crowdfunding projects, has applied for de-listing from the German stock exchange. This de-listing was effective July 2nd. More information is available on their website (in German):

Now fast forward to July 17th when net SE filed for bankruptcy.

Three new GoPro products expected later this year (+ first leaked pictures of the GoPro Hero7 Black camera)


During the latest call to shareholders for the Q2/2018 financial results, GoPro’s CEO Nick Woodman confirmed that they are planning to release three new products later this year without providing any additional details.

I already reported that a new GoPro Hero7 Black camera was registered online and we now already have the first leaked pictures – see above (looks very similar to the current GoPro Hero6).
