Canon discontinues the EOS-1v, their last film camera

Canon Japan officially announced that the Canon EOS-1v is now discontinued. This was Canon’s last film camera. The EOS-1v will be available for sale at retailers until their inventory is gone.

Nikon still lists their F6 film camera on their website but all three major US stores (B&H, Adorama, Amazon) are currently out of stock. I will not be surprised if the F6 will also be discontinued soon.

Here is what 400MP photos from the new Hasselblad H6D-400C MS camera look like

Hasselblad has a new H6D-400C MS medium format camera (MS stands for Multi-Shot) and today they released a few 400MP sample photos:

The RAW file is 755MB while the JPG pictures are sized around 150-200MB (23200 × 17400):

Multi-Shot explanation (based on a 100MP sensor):

“Multi-Shot technology involves moving the sensor very accurately by 1 or 1⁄2 a pixel at a time with a precision piezo actuator, enabling the camera to capture more colour information and data than in a single-shot capture. The captured images are then merged in Phocus, Hasselblad’s dedicated desktop software solution, to produce a single finished file with staggering amounts of detail and colour information. In traditional single-shot imaging, each pixel receives one level of colour information (Red, Green, or Blue) based on the Bayer Pattern Filter. While this can produce high quality results, Multi-Shot capture adds a new dimension of image detail and colour possibilities.”

The Hasselblad H6D-400C MS camera is priced at $47,995.
