Canon claims the #1 spot in full-frame and APS-C interchangeable lens cameras in the US


After the latest claim by Nikon, Canon wanted to remind everyone that they still have the #1 spot in full-frame and APS-C interchangeable lens cameras in the US:

“In 2017, Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging, was the number one selling Full-Frame Interchangeable Lens Camera (ILC) brand and APS-C ILC2 brand in the U.S., according to The NPD Group. Canon has been number one worldwide in these camera segments for the last 14 years, based on a global Canon survey.”

Olympus PEN E-PL9 announced: 16MP, no EVF, image stabilization, 4k



The previously rumored Olympus PEN E-PL9 camera is now officially announced overseas (Europe and Asia). The Olympus Pen E-PL9 will start shipping in March for €549 (£579 in the UK) for body only. US pricing was not available at the time of this post. Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 FE lens for Sony E-mount will start shipping on February 15th


The new Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 FE lens for Sony E-mount is expected to start shipping on February 15th. The suggested retail price in Japan (excluding tax) is around ¥85,000 or aprox. $750 (official US pricing not yet announced).

The new Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 FE lens is a re-design of the M-mount version ($629) and is optimized for full-frame E-mount cameras.

Voigtlander already has several different mirrorless lenses or Sony E-mount.

After the Mavic Air ($799), DJI is rumored to announce a new Mavic Pro 2 that will replace the current DJI Mavic Pro model ($1,399). The new drone is expected to be an “upsized” Mavic Air with a new larger camera.

Update – here are some of the rumored DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone specifications:

  • 1″ CMOS sensor with 28mm lens
  • 4820 mAh battery with 35 minute flight time
