Pentax K-5 now also discontinued in the US

After the first report from Japan back in January, the Pentax K-5 DSLR is now also discontinued in the US according to this B&H listing (the body only version is still available). Expect the replacement to be announced at Photokina next month. Via Pentaxforums

Fujifilm discontinues three compact film cameras

Fujifilm issued a press release that they will discontinue the production of the Natura Classica ($299), Klasse W ($559) and Clear Shot M compact film cameras. I think is about time for Fujifilm to drop the “film” part from their name. Via Tokyocamerastyle

Sony 300mm f/2.8 lens is now discontinued

Sony Japan listed the SAL 300mm f/2.8G lens ($6,998.00) as discontinued. This lens was announced in June, 2006 and Sony recently raised its price by $700. With the announcement of the 500mm f/4 lens (SAL500F40G), it will be interesting to see if Sony will refresh also the 300mm f/2.8.

Canon 1D MARK IV is also discontinued

In addition to the Canon Speedlight 580EXII, it seems that the Canon 1D MARK IV DSLR camera is also discontinued. Its replacement, the Canon EOS-1D X, was announced in October 2011 and is now shipping in limited quantities.

The Canon Speedlight 580EXII ($469) is probably discontinued – dealers in the US can no longer place orders for that product.

One of the Sony NEX C-3 kits is also listed as discontinued

In addition to the Sony a900, the NEX-C3 + 18-55mm lens kits is also listed as discontinued at B&H. Based on the recently discontinued products, Sony should be announcing a replacement for the following cameras in the next few months: NEX-C3 a900 a35

Panasonic DMC-FZ150 camera listed as discontinued

In addition to the Sony a900, B&H now lists also the Panasonic DMC-FZ150 camera as discontinued. The FZ-150 was announced in August, 2011 – this is probably the shortest lifespan of a digital camera I have seen – only 7 months.
