What else is new?

→ The Sigma sd Quattro H mirrorless camera is now in stock.

→ Really Right Stuff released a new BX1D L-plate for the Hasselblad X1D camera (still out of stock).

→ Deal of the day: the Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R lens is now on sale $349 at Amazon only ($250 or 42% off), the same lens is listed for $599 at B&H. Maybe Fuji is clearing their inventory and will refresh this lens in the future.

“Really Right Stuff released a new BX1D L-plate…”

Accessories for a product that doesn’t exist yet. Brilliant.

Hassy looks like that Sigma “H” camera upside down. 🙂 H as in Hassy?

A few more reviews have been posted about the sd Quattro
    https://www.focus-numerique.com/hybride/tests/sigma-sd-quattro-h-2977.html

I’m a bit bummed out everyone is using the 35mm to do the test
    Green fringing to the max.
There also seems to be quite a lot of noise at base ISO, even more than the 5ds

A huge shame Sigma did not make another mount for the H.
I love Sigma camera’s, but I dislike their lenses.

      • Eloise

You mean you’d like Tamron to make lenses for Sigma cameras? Or perhaps Nikon should make some Sigma fit lenses!

        • tornwald

A different mount would suffice. Sigma lenses are all about sharpness. Sharpness is the least interesting characteristic a lens has to offer. Micro contrast is the most important aspect I search for in a lens, and Sigma lenses have none.

That is why it is a shame they did not offer other mount options like they did before with the previous SD. The Foveon sensor is wonderfull and would shine even more when high micro contrast lens options would be available.

          • Eloise

Can I clarify… are you saying that some Sigma cameras have been made with lens mount other than SA?

          • Hans Moser

Care to explain how you measure micro contrast vs. “sharpness”?

          • tornwald

You don’t. Sharpness is measurable resolution. Micro contrast is not measurable but perceptible.
