Sigma to also produce Micro Four Thirds lenses

In addition to the E-mount 30mm f/2.8 lens prototype, Sigma announced that it will start the development of new Micro Four Thirds lenses.

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the development of new lenses for Micro Four Thirds and E-mount camera system.

As demand for compact system cameras increase, we intend to meet the requirements of users and develop new lenses for these systems, utilizing our advanced interchangeable lens development technology.

Detailed information including specifications, product names, pricing and launch schedules will be announced in due course.

A mockup will be displayed at Sigma's booth during CP+, a camera and photo imaging show, held in Pacifico Yokohama Japan from February 9th, 2011.

    from my standards of IQ. m43 is ok. I had a GF1 but sold it because it wasnt up to par. the only compact that was heads and shoulders above the rest in IQ was the Sigma DP2. hopefully they can figure out how to make a more functional camera.

    sigma already produces panasonics m4/3 lenses….

      Really? I thought they only produce Four Thirds lenses, which can be adapted to fit, but aren’t designed specifically for Micro Four Thirds. If that counts, then by the same token, just about everybody produces MFT lenses.

    Oh, sorry, I see you mean OEM. I didn’t know they did OEM for Panasonic. Who made the lovely 20/1.7?
