Olympus 12mm f/2 lens for Micro Four Thirds

I forgot to mention in my previous post that in addition to the E-PM1, E-PL3 and E-P3 announcements on June 30th, Olympus will also introduce a new 12mm f/2 lens for Micro Four Thirds. Olympus displayed a concept of a M.ZUIKO DIGITAL lens at the 2011 CP+ show in Japan that is believed to be similar in design to the new 12mm f/2.

So sad that neither Panasonic nor Oly are putting aperture rings around their pro aimed lenses :(.
I mean why? It would improve usability so much, all the automatics could be solved with an A(uto) “stop”.

Cost and size, likely. All those extra bits cost more to make, make the lens more complex to assemble, and likely make it larger.

love the look and design, reminds me of the defunct and missed Contax…

Cute but somewhat big, compared to the Nex equivalent pancake (16/2.8)

Looks as if m4/3 is more compact for zooms, but bigger for low light photography. No body is perfect… 🙂
