In addition, you can also get a clearer display effect through the diopter adjustment dial.

Exclusive Fujifilm APS-C size X-Trans CMOS sensor for superior color reproduction and image resolution

FUJIFILM X-E1 equipped with FUJIFILM X-Pro1 exactly the same 16.3 million pixel APS-C size X-Trans CMOS sensor. Its unique color filter array can not use the optical low-pass filter to reduce moiré and false color generated. The direct benefits of this design is the ability to very substantially increase the resolution of the digital camera, it is possible to bring you a more clear and bright perfect shooting.

Conventional color filter array using the arrangement of the 2×2 pixel unit, bring the greatest adverse impact in the highly ordered arrangement is moiré and pseudo color is often generated. Usually in the digital camera industry, the installation of a low-pass filter between the color filter and lens to effectively solve the problem of moiré and false color. However, the use of the low-pass filter, on the other hand will lead to a sharp decline in image resolution. As a veteran film maker Fujifilm X-Trans CMOS sensor design, using a unique similar to traditional silver halide film color filter array design the 6X6 pixel unit structure looks messy, and this state-of-the-art The disordered arrangement designed to fundamentally eliminate moiré and false color generated, so that the removal of the low-pass filter ripe. Finally, X-Trans CMOS sensor in the resolution of the sensor has been the greatest degree of improvement in the removal of the low-pass filter design. You may even be able to enlarge the image to 2700mm X 1800mm size no problem.

Unique color filter array design is also excellent in the photo noise control high sensitivity. In addition, in the role of the large size of the APS-C sensor, the user is able to get a clear prospect of a very beautiful bokeh effect, bokeh shallow depth of field shooting.

X-E1 equipped with a high-speed, high-precision “EXR processor PRO” image processing engine, to bring you high-speed shooting responses. The acquisition of complex X-Trans CMOS sensor signal high-speed real-time image processing without any delay, to ensure that your next creation.

New tailor-made for the X-E1 Fujinon XF 18-55 F2.8-4 R LM OIS lens, only 0.1 seconds to bring you the ultra-high-speed focusing performance

The the XF18-55mm lens in the newly released high-end linear motor with CMOS sensor read-out of high-speed signals as well as the newly developed EXR image processor the Pro perfect combination to bring you the speed and accuracy of autofocus qualitative leap. Only 0.1 seconds, the fastest high-speed precise focus using contrast detection AF mode X-E1 will I bring.

Fujitsu X-E1 and lens group

Another masterpiece as the field of optical design, the new XF-18-55mm lens with 10 groups of 14 all-glass structure design, which contains three aspherical lens and an anomalous dispersion lens, using a 7-blade circular aperture design. The zoom lens focal lengths covering the most commonly used 18mm wide-angle to 55mm telephoto * focal lengths, able to adapt to different occasions photography needs.

F2.8-F4 aperture, large aperture to bring you the perfect low light photographic effects, including beautiful bokeh effect. Compact lens design, making it more lightweight and easy to carry. The state-of-the-art optical and mechanical design is a strong guarantee to keep the lens compact despite its F2.8 large aperture, the size of this lens is only 65.0mmX70.4mm. Like other XF series lens, the new lens uses the same design of the aperture ring, allowing users to a high degree of concentration in the shoot ease with his left hand to carry out the adjustment of the aperture size. The lens OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) system to prevent the image jitter, image stabilization performance equivalent to 4 shutter speed correction effect will always ensure that you get clear and not blurry photos.

The Fuji X bayonet native will maximize the performance of the lens

Fujifilm X-mount system has a very short 17.7mm flange distance, and maximize the performance advantages of digital camera mirror.

Wider opening design allows the lens deep enough to insert them to the camera body about 7.5mm, followed by lens focal length shortened, and thus make the lens compact and lightweight design easier. The shortening also reduces the occurrence of the edges of the image resolution to reduce the phenomenon of the back focus.

X bayonet in a 10-contact design, the more high-speed and efficient communication between the lens and body, which include auto-focus, aperture and other lens mobile data, high-speed communications.

The Fujifilm original M bayonet adapter ring the huge group M-mount lenses, X-E1 can be used to greatly expand your photography fun.

A variety of shooting modes faithful reproduction of the traditional professional film color

X-E1 is also equipped with Fujifilm’s unique Film Simulation mode, digital camera reproduction is similar to the traditional professional film is so unique color and flavor. Including the reproduction of nature bright colors, ultra-high saturation and prominent red and green tones of Velvia mode, reproduce the soft, fine, smooth skin tones ASTIA mode and more emphasis on natural color reproduction PROVIA mode. The new film simulation mode also includes two professional color negative effects, including shades more smooth PRO Neg.Std in and suitable for indoor portraits sharpness PRO Neg.Hi. Single-tone mode also has three types of filter effects and show nostalgic old photo style sepia mode. The film simulation bracketing function allows you to get three completely different film simulation effects in a single exposure at the same time.

In the era of film cameras, multiple exposures is the only one by for leaflets film by two exposure images superimposed photography. Advanced digital image processing technology, X-E1 is also able to simulate this technology to select multiple exposure mode, shooting photos, and then EVF or LCD display, you can directly view the first exposure effect has been completed and accurate superposition of the second shot, overlay effect to get creative scene.

Full HD video capabilities

Not only can you shoot Full HD (1920X1080) 24fps speed movie. In addition, you can also be applied to the film simulation mode video shoot them, thanks to the large-size image sensor and the large aperture lens for X-E1, your movie will also have a very nice bokeh effect.

Through a microphone connected to the fuselage Φ2.5mm caliber microphone / remote shutter line interface, you can be more clear and loud sound of the recording. The interface is particularly suitable for the lens motor sound worried fuselage operation tones will be recorded into the video.

As excited as others might be (although having wished for an updated X100 successor instead), how exactly would one use a zoom with the Hybrid Viewfinder? Would we be forced to use the EVF mode for this lens?

    • There’s no hybrid VF. Just an EVF. No OVF at all on this one…

      • Aaron Em

Oh, my mistake. How could I miss that? Hmm but what about on the X Pro 1? Different cameras for different folks I guess.

  • Oh Fuji

    Will this camera include firmware?

    • antonio

I guess it will…unless they market it just for decoration.

  • Mark Olwick

That’s some weird machine translation, not the English press release. It looks like someone just took the Korean website page and did a Google translate on the web page, then sent it to you, passing it off as the official English press release.

    • Yes, it is a Google translation. The English version will be official tonight around midnight EST (6am GMT)

  • Petter

I might just sell my X100 for this one with the 35mm F/1.4. In black. The silver one looks funny.

  • Sean

It would have been nice to see a 921,000k screen instead of 460,000k. At least the EVF is decent resolution.

    • SL

Oh right, what a sloppy LCD – no one mentioned that before ! But the EVF is brilliant …

  • Nino N.

Looks interesting for what it is. I wonder how much would it cost for the body itself and how fast it will focus with the three original lenses? Also how much is the body? Anyway, seems like Fuji has been working on this quite a bit. I’m really impressed at how they got back into market in this digital age 🙂

  • SL

“0.05 seconds shutter lag” sounds impressive so far …

  • ian

Any news on the price – body only and body + new zoom lens? cheers!

  • hiplnsdrftr

This camera pretty much kills any interest I had in Panasonic MFT or any hope I had in waiting for a serious mirrorless release from Canon.

Will be pre-ordering an all black X-E1 asap… from B&H of course.

    Fujifilm got it right.

  • MB

Looks fantastic … if EVF is good as it should be and the price is right … Fuji is obviously the only Japanese photo company with a vision

  • Jeff Merc

This is awesome news. It means it will be using Sony’s high resolution OLED EVF:

This is exactly what I’ve been hoping for my X100 and was surprised not to see in the OM-D.

Now I’m not at all bother with the lack of optical.

Truly Fuji has got some vision!

  • Ozbaz

It looks like fuji listen to their customers. I look forward to trying it out. The OMD purchase is now officially on hold!

    • E

Wish this had the weather sealing of the om-d:( , but after owning a xpro1 x100 and using a omd i would take the fujis for their snsirs any day

  • aquaboi924

Hello X-E1! Shame about the 460k LCD but i can live with that. This, the iphone 5 and ipad mini will make my year! Now all we need are official release dates and pricing. Oh yeah, translation was funny to read.

  • d.b.

23.6 mp viewfinder? Isn’t it too much mps for evf?

    • fjfjjj

      It’s not 23.6, it’s 236. I mean 2.36. Wait… I better go back and read the press release again.

  • Wishful Dreamer

*sigh* If only I could use my F-mount lenses on the X-E1… I always liked how Fujifilm’s D-SLRs used the Nikon mount. I know, D-SLR lenses wouldn’t work on a mirrorless camera anyway… I’m just saying, if I didn’t have to buy all new glass I would be VERY tempted to dive in with the X-E1 🙂 However, as it is, I’m not willing, nor am I able to afford, to buy into a completely different camera system 🙁

I think that Nikon and Fujifilm are doing some very interesting things… I don’t love all of it, but I am excited to see what else is coming in the near future!

    • E

You can buy adapters to use with them…just no electronic support. Hopefully they are the af-d lenses that way u can use the aperture ring. Love using that in my x pro 1. 85 1.4 produces very pleasing results on xpro1:) should be no diff on ex1 esp since they use the same sensor

  • george

2700 mm wide enlargement ! That is almost 9 feet !
That is something I want to see
Normally that would require almost 40+ mp, to give noise free enlargements.
—if true, that will blow my M9 out of the water for big prints—
(my 10 foot images require a minimum of 3 stitched frames to go that large)

  • Lance

One thing with this camera that no one has really mentioned, because there is no optical viewfinder, there is no window on the front of the camera. So it no longer looks like a rangefinder, as the X Pro-1 and X100 do. It’s back to looking like a point and shoot with a big lens on the front. Maybe it’s just me, but the rangefinder look is important, as a way of making average people think its an old camera, and relaxing. But also because they look like real Leicas, the XP1 like an M9P and the X100 kind of like a little M3 I think. That’s part of what made me comfortable to sell my Leicas and switch, the beauty of the traditional rangefinder style.

    • GM

      Thank you for mention it!!
Rangefinder look was so important in X100, X Pro-1.
I’m sooo disappointed with that new modern, point and shoot look of X-E1…period!!
      Just another digital hybrid….((

      • GM

…….going back to my old dream: M9!!

        • Lance Lobo

The X Pro-1 is still there, and I think it’s better than my black M9P. I haven’t sold it yet. I keep checking back, comparing, even just holding them side by side. The XP1, though half the weight actually feels better in hand to me, with the new thumbs up of course, and an Abrahamsson Classic black soft release. I also have the same on the Leica. A side benefit, about $2000 invested versus $12,000 with lens. I can self insure the XP1 at that rate, and have a little X100 in my trouser pocket for backup and wide angle.

  • Pdf Ninja

I wonder if it’s going to have some sort of a manual focus assist feature. Sony has the peaking mode, Oly/Pana have a zoom to focus area.

    • Pdf Ninja

I’ve found the answer on dpreview: “there’s also a new 3x magnification mode to assist manual focus”

  • c.d.embrey

Sure would be nice if they had an 85mm f/1.8 lens (= FF 127.5mm). Not everyone wants/needs wide angle lenses.

Olympus got the memo and is having a hard time making enough 75mm f/1.8 (= FF 150mm) to satify the demand. When will Fuji and Sony get the memo???

The lack of a short telephoto is the only thing stopping me from ordering either a X-E1 (prefered) or a NEX 7.

  • No OVF, not interested, but otherwise a good looking camera, and nice evolution from X100 –> X100.
