What else is new?

With the introduction of the Q7 mirrorless camera, Pentax also announced the limited edition “Complete Kit” in Japan that contains seven Q lenses, PL filter and a camera bag. Only 1000 kits will be produced. Pentax also announced a white version of their WG-3 waterproof, coldproof, shockproof and dustproof camera.

The latest patents from Tamron, Canon, Olympus, Samsung

Tamron’s latest patent is for a 135mm f/2.8 lens for APS-C based cameras (202.5mm equivalent). Canon filed patents for several different lenses: 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 85mm f/1.2 85mm f/1.8 135mm f/2 50mm f/1.4 Olympus filed a patent for a 40-200mm f/4 Micro Four Thirds lens.

Update: Sony RX1R will not have an anti-aliasing (AA) filter

A quick update to my last post: I was able to confirm that the upcoming Sony RX1R compact full frame camera will not have an anti-aliasing (AA) filter. This will be the only difference between the RX1 and the RX1R models.

Sigma announces pricing for the 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens

Sigma announced the pricing for their 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens: $799. The lens is available in Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax and Sigma mounts and will start shipping on July 31, 2013.
