Am I correct in reading that this offer only applies to those who already own Photoshop CS3 or later versions?

    • Yup

And who purchased a stand-alone copy of Photoshop by itself, not as part of a creative suite.

      • Zos Xavius

If you owned the suite you should be calling adobe to see if they will honor this offer as you already own Photoshop.

        • DomDdom

Or, use the version of PS that you already have and tell Adobe to GFT.

  • llamacide

    @ Andrew – i believe so, yes!

  • otaku

Still no acceptable offer for New customers but for me no matter since i will not join the Cloud, not even for free, it is a matter Of principles.

  • RMJ

Adobe is not getting one single cent from me ever again. Keep your over priced buggy software.

    • Zos Xavius

So what will you replace PS with? 😛

      • RMJ

why would I be in hurry to replace it? my version works at least till 2020, propably much longer, without paying single cent more. If I have to replace it anytime soon, then I’ll replace it with GIMP that I use in Linux anyways.

I do most of the photo editing in LR anyways, and even in there less and less as I’m moving on to Capture One. I have kept LR just for organization purposes and as soon as valid alternative comes about, it’s bye bye LR too. (and there already are really good ones but I’m just wait them to be polished, meanwhile I’m figuring out how to convert my database to them)

Highly likely that on the next installation of operating system (in few years?), I won’t bother anymore installing even those two software from Adobe. It’s bye bye, indeed.

        • MacCruiskeen

If you are using Linux, have a look at Darktable. I’ve only played with it a little bit, but it looks fairly capable, and it seems to be trying to be more like LR or Aperture than PS anyway. I would like to use GIMP, but no 16-bit editing or native CMYK support are big limitations, though I’d expect this to improve over time.

          • RMJ

Yup, I know and I have Darktable also. But I mostly work on Windows so it’s not real alternative right now. But I’m following very closely it.

I have the student and teacher edition of photoshop CS5 and this said I was ineligible. Fucking bullshit. I bit the bullet and purchased the LR5 upgrade but seriously FUCK Adobe.

    • Fab

If this is really true, it’s ANOTHER instance Adobe is not loyal to its customer base:

They promised that student & teacher edition buyers could upgrade to the full version (e.g. after not being students any more). -> Enticing people to buy student verions.

And now those people are not allowed into the LR + PS cloud model? Not a nice move indeed!

Adobe is doing suicide. But having a good life before death 😉

  • James Donahue

I have been misled, This is BullShit that you have to have a previous version of Photoshop to get this deal..Goodbye Adobe.

  • GigoloJoe

In every deal their is always somebody who is not happy
I am one of those unhappy people Fortunately there are other products that allow for editing with layer.

  • DomDdom

    Still, no.

  • Just The Tip

I’m curious how much piracy will affect these guys now. Whereas before a person or company can buy and own a piece of software, now they’re permanently renting it. For me, I don’t care about having the latest version all the time. The benefits are all Adopey’s.

    • Adam Knapp

If they were smart, Adobe would aggressively market these kinds of deals to the people who would otherwise pirate. People who pay for software will do it anyway.

  • TinusVerdino

Not available in Europe. The “optimized” dutch site seems to have been made for optimized adobe earnings. €24,95 for 1 app. 2 would be 49,95 or entire cc

For a program that has been basically the same for over ten years, they just add some features to it. Creative filters have not been updated in ages, you need to go third party for that.

  • Photobuff

This pricing is for the FIRST YEAR ONLY (read the footnote). After that, it could be anything — and will certainly go up to at least current full pricing. And then all the money you’ve paid in rent is gone. This is a “free sample” (in the free sample of crack sense), only you have to pay for the free sample. This is a bait-and-switch, a great deal for adobe and whoever is advising them, and a pretty poor one for the consumer.

  • Mark

We European must have been rich 😉
EU price is 12.99 EUR – almost double of US price…
    What a bargain offer!

If I use the software I already have, it’s $ZERO/month.

  • CGL

    Adobe = GREED
