Samyang to announce a new wide angle lens

Samyang lens teaser Photokina
A quick update on my previous post: the latest Samyanag teaser is for a new wide angle lens (without AF) that should be announced in the coming days. This will be a"photo" lens and not a V-DSLR version.

There’s room for a 20mm (F2.8 judging from the size of the drawing)

    • abortabort

      I was thinking 20mm f2 but I guess we’ll see.

I own their 14mm and it is sometimes just too wide for me. yes, a 20mm will be very nice!

I also own their 14mm. Great price, very sharp, but distortion is high and not pure barrel and it is thus only useful for landscape (and even then, not with a clearly defined horizon).

  • Alex Alexander

    A 16mm f/1.8 or 24mm f/1.4 APS-C for mirrorless would be perfect

  • Twull

I could see an updated “version II” of one of their current wide lenses, but they have pretty good coverage on the wide end. They should update the 85mm, do a macro, or some longer prime lenses, 100mm-200mm range.

prime or zoom? Maybe there big change is that they will start doing zooms rather than AF?

  • Ms.KrystalMeth

    it is a 1mm 1.4

    • TinusVerdino

      a pinhole fish eye?

      • Peter

No, the first ever with greater-than-360-degree field of view.

  • Keke

A slowish (2.8 to 4) hence compact 20-21 mm with great IQ would be nice.

    • george

      A 20-21mm zoom would also be lovely… 🙂

  • I hate Hamas!

How about a ZOOM for a change??

    • TinusVerdino

      zooms are for AF-lovers

    • I love Hamas!

Why? What’s wrong with your 18-55mm/3.5-5.6 Kit lens?

  • Autofocus lenses are a dime a dozen and somewhat overvalued at that price. I’d like a nice 24mm f2 manual focus, with optics slightly better than the Zeiss 25mm f2. Priced far, far below $1800. Do I ask too much?

  • Ty

18mm f/3.5? Keep cost low and quality high perhaps.

  • xtt

    hope there is a 20 F1.8
