The first Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 DI VC USD full frame lenses are already shipping in Japan. Paul Nelson already purchased the lens on eBay and posted several sample photos on dpreview. The Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 lens is available in NikonCanon and Sony mounts. Additional information can be found here.

Nice review, but, unfortunately, this copy of the lens is decentered to the left. Right side is way softer, even at f5.6. I, personally, am not able to make any conclusion about the lens – this copy, at least.

Tamron should really improve their QA process.

Out of questions. How come that the very first bunch of brand new gears is not checked twice and triple?

I still don’t see how you guys are determining this lens is decentered. Its sort of a claim, but I don’t see the evidence. In some photos, the right side seems softer, in others the left side seems softer. This seems to have more to do with where the focus point is and how far back the “measured” (unscientifically) parts are, which are being stretched by the super wide-angle.

Cannot expect every lens to be perfect, but until this lens is shooting test charts, I don’t think that claim can be made.

You determined this how? Those photos aren’t even set up for a scientific test of a centering.

      • longzoom

No science needed to what is clearly visible. Each and every image on the right side from the line of horizon to the grass is soft. Very soft to, say, f5.6, and is not very sharp even further. Are you working for Tamron? My Nikkor 16-35 were only 4th sample accepted by me, for the same reason.

Well, Nikon QC is the different issue. Let’s wait for more tests of Tamron.

          • longzoom

That’s a common problem, not Nikon’s or Tammy’s only. Even my 90AA was only 3rd, forget 16-35. This 15-30 is so much promising, let’s really wait for good copy tested.

Oh my days. Some people seem to open their mouths about topics they clearly know sod all about, and do nothing but make themselves look like complete twonks!

Plain stupid comments, from some people. Stop making your paints wet, then talk.
