Sony did not announce any photography products at the CES and CP+ shows

Sony did not announce any new products during their press conference yesterday at the CP+ show in Japan. I believe Sony is the only company that did not reveal a single photography product during the 2015 CES and CP+ shows (with the exception of new action cameras).  Sony was expected to release several new FE full frame mirrorless lenses. The company's last "serious" announcement was the a7II camera at the end of November.

I personally would love to see a new Sony RX2 camera or at least a firmware update for the RX1.

Update - here are few videos of the new Sony FE lenses:

Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS lens:

So far, only Ricoh has intrigued with the D-FA lens display. Well, the K-s2 looks interesting, from a value-features POV. Canon: nothing of interest that wasn’t already announced. Solid, if otherwise predictable, cameras. Powershot’s being the unfortunate exception.

Nikon, OTOH, dumped all their ‘obligatory’ low grade P&S toys last week, with only a modified D810 on hand to show. *Yawn* Their financial woes are very predictable. Hey, how about the P900 everybody! Oh….wait…….

    • Eagle Of morningcalm seems Ricoh is starting to get in back in the business..

Don’t act surprised. Most companies announce new products immediately before photo shows, and yes, some regularly have nothing to announce simply because the timelines don’t fit. This doesn’t really say anything about the strength of a company.

Sony decided it was getting expensive throwing spaghetti against the wall.

Was hoping they would at least announce an 85mm f/1.8 lens.

Cap keepers are great for making sure you don’t lose your front lens cap. How brilliant that Sony is developing a product for the other end of the lens.

Are you cheekily referring to the anti-theft security wire..? =P

Sad, but that’s the world we live in. I’m willing to bet these are actually unnecessary at local Japanese events!

Come on, don’t tell me you’ve never lost your camera while messing with your rear lens cap.

Why do all those brands (like Atomos and Rode) flash on the screen? Is that the video-maker’s sponsors? Or are these lenses being reviewed for video and those are tools being used..?

    • I think they are sponsors of the website that made videos.

The only company making some bold move seems to be samsung with its nx1…incredible, but true!

These are huge! The 35mm 1.4 seems to be exactly the same size as the 35 sigma A… I don’t get why leica can make such small FF 1.4 lenses and not sony (I get that AF is a challenge, but does it make that big of a difference?).

  • This this right here is why I won’t invest in Sony’s system. What is the point of a small full frame camera if your lenses are BIGGER than those on a DSLR??

Firmware update for a $3000 camera? What are they, Fuji? You’ll get your “firmware update”, it will b called RX2. Maybe.

    • yes, I guess you are right, but then again – I will just not buy the RX2 in that case and vote with my wallet
