    Kinda strange product.
Flash doesnt look built in. Not really…
    Built-on flash, maybe.

    • SH*T666

Built-in flash just over the lens.

Hideous image quality and expensive as hell

    • SH*T666

      “hideous image quality”? seriously?

Did you test the camera or it´s only you like to play the troll?

      • Paco Ignacio

        Have you seen the samples?

        • Zos Xavius

I have. What is wrong with them?

EDIT: I take that back now that I saw an iso 1600 shot. wow. noise city.

  • Really, Leica…
    16 mpix APS-C sensor, instead of 24.
    Only 5fps burst shooting.
    Only 1080p 30fps.
    Only up to 12500 ISO.

These are all very outdated specifications, and for $2,950, I don’t even know what to say…

Which waterproof, shockproof, dustproof camera has better camera specs? If you can’t go snorkeling with it out of the box then it doesn’t compete with this camera – period. If you’re not happy with the 16 mp aps-c sensor and the f/1.7 lens of this Leica then you really won’t be happy with the 16 mp 1″ sensor and f/2.8 lens of the Nikon AW1 (the only comparable camera I can think of right now).

      • I get your point, but that’s false logic (whatever it’s called in English). Just because there are no directly competing water proof cameras out there, it doesn’t mean Leica couldn’t give it more up to date specifications, especially for the price. Makes sense I guess?

        • Zos Xavius

What? 16mp sensors have better DR and IQ even today. No 24mp aps-c sensor has equaled the DR of the sony 16mp sensor. 5fps for second is more than adequate. You won’t be using this to shoot sports anyways. That lens is really fast for 23mm too. If you bought it separately it would easily be a $1000 lens or probably more because it is leica. Specs aren’t really the problem. Most people would be happy with these specs. The price….not so much.

          • From what I’ve seen, the 24mp that is used in the D7200 has the best dynamic range among the APS-C sensors so far. But we don’t know if Leica would even be allowed to use that sensor yet. The lens is probably great and it’s fast indeed. But sensors and lenses aside, I still can’t see why they at least couldn’t offer higher frame rate and higher ISO among other things. Those are things that are useful for shooting moving subjects underwater (fish, surfers etc) and shouldn’t be in the way for the water proof build.

          • Zos Xavius

The noise looks really bad. I just looked at some and wow. Not what I was expecting.

It makes sense for something to complain about, but nothing more. If you were seriously in the market for this type of camera (and cost wasn’t an issue) then you would see that this is better than other options and you would buy it.

By your logic every single camera that isn’t the top of the line flagship camera should be criticized for not being better.

          • “By your logic every single camera that isn’t the top of the line flagship camera should be criticized for not being better.”

No, not every camera. But those that cost $2,950 and have the same specifications as cameras had five years ago (apart from being water proof), may very well be better considering the price. I’m not saying it won’t be a useable camera. It most like will due to the fast lens and large sensor size. But the point remains, they could very well have put more up-to-date specifications considering the price.

          • preston

Leica considers themselves a luxury brand and along with that comes high prices. They are not simply mass market consumer items. Complaining about the cost of Leica is like complaining about the cost of Rolex.

  • sickheadache

    Wow..only 49 Feet…Leica you couldn’t get even a 50 foot depth? Lol…and only 3 Grand…Leica are you slipping?… Leica this is easily a 5-6 Grand Camera!!

  • Zos Xavius

Totally off topic but the mobile site is nicely designed. I don’t know if that’s a new thing for PR or not, but it showed up on nexus just now. Keep up the good work please.

  • SH*T666

Big sensor, very bright and high quality lens, built-in flash just over the lens and probably construction is also top notch quality. Very good camera indeed, but also pricing very high and for this price I´d expect to get a camera that could go to 100 ft depth. If I were Trump, no doubt this camera would be mine, but I am not. Sorry, Leica.
