Any mention on dual pixel? I hope canon don’t screw it up by using the m3/rebel sensor

    • jet

      it has DPAF

  • Ievgen Nedrygailov

    This is ridiculous!

  • Vikingog

    and sensor Size?

    • Jeffry De Meyer

it uses eos m lenses so…

    • jet

      noob….. it´s the M mount so it´s APS-C.

  • MonkeySpanner

Come on canon – the a6500 is the reference standard. If you can’t beat that camera you had better sell this one significantly cheaper.

    • TinusVerdino

It will probably be around $800

    • jet

you must be mentally challenged right?
the A6500 cost way more than this camera.

      • Ethan

        Ok then, A6300. Still 4k.

Almost everything the a6500 has, still runs circles around this Canon camera.

        • Les

I think that Canon has established that they won’t do low-quality (low bit rate) 4K just to fill-out the specifications. Good on them.

There’s one thing this camera provides that Sony doesn’t: Canon colour response. If you don’t like the way canon cameras draw, then get something else. However, if you appreciate their colour science, nothing else matters.
That being said, the rest of the specs are probably miles ahead of the Sony. Judging by the M3 and M5, this camera should have better battery life, better handling, a much much better user interface. Also, you don’t need a third-party adapter to use Canon lenses, so no wiggle, and no reboots!

          • Originaru

True, after years i noticed that fact about the color science, i had a Sony camera, but skin tones were always off, my next camera will probably be a Canon, solely for this aspect, i don’t care about dynamic range, resolution or anything if the colors dont feel right.
Sony is getting better on this aspect, but still far away even from Nikon.

Camera looks good, it’s pretty and compatct. Top plate is plastic or anodized aluminum?

Also, no EFC in 2017? What is Canon thinking? Facepalm.

    • jet

canon is thinking the way that they dominated DSLR with 60%+ marketshare and sell mirrorless like crazy in japan.

      • Azmodan

All valid points, but seriously what is the purpose of a camera which seems almost identical in specs other than having an EVF. I’d expect either it to have worse or better specs and warrant a new model name.

        • Andrei

Probably small size and cheaper price. I know experienced photographer who purchased Sony A5100 over the A6000 because he don’t need EVF and price was better + selfie LCD for group shots.

      • Ivan Kutsarov

With recent 890$ Fuji X-T20 announcement, this camera is DOA.
It probably will sell like crazy, you are right, but not beacsue it’s something special.

    • Andrei

      What is EFC?

      • Athanasius Kirchner

He means EFCS, electronic first curtain shutter. It means that, instead of using the mechanical first curtain (the one that opens first) the shutters begins electronically, and is trailed by the mechanical second curtain.
TL;DR it’s a trick to avoid shutter shock, which is becoming essential for all cameras with high pixel densities.

        • Andrei

I think Canon cameras have EFCS for a long time, back to the 40D.

          • Azmodan

Only in some models. For example the flagship (at the time) 1D4 did not have it and 1DX was first 1 series to have it.

  • The grey one looks a lot like a Samsung 🙂

    For example:×630-c.jpg

  • Only nothing looks like a Samsung…

  • All good, but no EVF = no sale.

    • Les

Then you should get the M5, it’s the same camera with an EVF.

      • Zos Xavius

Yep or you can buy the evf. At least they gave people options.

    • jet

      try nikon…. ROTFL….

    • Andrei

So Canon launches M5 and then shortly after the M6 and it’s the same camera, except the lack of EVF.
Then people complain it doesn’t have EVF :)) Comical

  • Michele

    no flash?

  • Ethan

    Full HD, LOL again Canon.

  • sickheadache

it is the next model from Canon…Full Frame Mirrorless
