DxOMark is now separated from DxOLabs

DxO Mark distributed an email announcing that DxOMark is now separated from DxOLabs:

"We’ve had an important internal change as well: In September, DxOMark Image Labs was spun off from DxO Labs. DxOMark Image Labs is now a privately-owned, independent company. As such, we continue to pursue the development and commercialization of image quality solutions and services that support our customers in designing the best-quality camera systems for a range of markets, including smartphones, DSC/DSLRs, drones, action cams, surveillance, and automotive."

So is this good or bad?

Off the top of my head, I can’t see how it would make much of a difference for the usefulness of either DxO Mark or DxO Labs, and if the two units are developing different business models it might make sense for them to separate. I await further enlightenment, however.

I’d say it is good for DxO Labs, because they can no more be blamed for the dubious results DxOMark is producing with the help of their technology.

Finally booting that ridiculous DXOMark huh? Well, it was time, they should have done it earlier, so either they are dumb or they got some money under the table for it.
