Canon EOS R3 confirmed to have a 24MP sensor, camera priced at €7,299?

Nokishita confirmed the previous rumors that the Canon EOS R3 camera will have a 24MP sensor (previously reported here). This information is based on a leak from a photo news website. It seems that there are many websites out there that receive information under NDA that is easily accessible online.

Another European retailer listed the Canon EOS R3 camera in their online store with a price tag of €7,299 (over $8,600). I certainly hope this price is not accurate. Here is the description from the Canon EOS R3 product listing:

Outpace. Outperform

Pick up speed in ways you never thought possible. The EOS R3 is the new, high-speed, high-performance system camera that heralds a new era for professional sports photography and professional filmmaking.

Powerful, fast and mirrorless: the new professional camera

This camera is designed to capture extremely fast motion in a way you never thought possible. Specialized in capturing subjects moving at high speed. Developed for the requirements of professional sports photography: with an incredibly high reaction speed, sensitivity, reliability and robustness.

Explosive speed

The EOS R3 is coming. The first EOS with a completely new, stacked BSI CMOS sensor developed and manufactured by Canon, combined with the performance of a DIGIC X image processor. A new dimension in high-speed photography and videography that is hard to imagine. Continuous shooting at up to 30 fps with full AF / AE tracking with minimized distortion when using the electronic shutter.

Mastering speed

The focus of the EOS R3 has been raised to a new level and is able to precisely track and focus extremely fast movements. The next generation of Dual Pixel CMOS AF II can recognize the eyes and heads of subjects and track them reliably at up to 30 frames per second. Canon proudly presents a new AF tracking system on the EOS R3.

Ultra responsive

Introducing Canon's breakthrough Eye Control AF system for a new generation of photographers. This AF control system was designed from the ground up for the 21st century. Imagine if you could simply set or move the AF point with the look of your eye in the viewfinder of the EOS R3. Canon's Eye Control AF system ?? the truly unique AF control. The body of the EOS R3 was inspired by the EOS-1D series and enables ultra-intuitive control even in the most demanding professional situations.

Developed for professionals

The EOS R3 offers the same dust and splash protection as an EOS-1D series camera and can therefore withstand the adverse weather conditions that professional photographers are regularly exposed to. Even better: it has the integrated handle that users of the EOS-1D series love and trust? but with a reduced overall size of the camera and a significantly lower weight compared to the EOS-1D series.

A next-generation system

By using the RF bayonet, the EOS R3 opens the door to previously unattainable possibilities: unprecedented optical excellence and unparalleled AF performance.

- Up to 30 fps with AF / AE tracking
- Eye control function
