Do not expect the Panasonic GH6 camera this year

Just Like Olympus, Panasonic did not release any new information on the upcoming GH6 camera – they just updated their Japanese and global websites to reflect the LUMIX 20th anniversary. Here is the only paragraph from their presentation referring to the Panasonic GH6 camera:

“The GH6, which is currently under development, aims to achieve both the mobility unique to Micro Four Thirds systems and a variety of video expressiveness. Both the sensor and engine have been newly developed to support 4: 2: 2 10bit Cinema 4K60p video recording, and we plan to achieve unlimited video recording time within the recommended operating temperature. I’m really sorry that I can’t tell you in detail, but please look forward to what kind of camera the GH6, which is still under development by engineers, will be finished.”

At that point, it is safe to assume that the Panasonic GH6 camera will not be announced in 2021. Here are the rumored GH6 specifications as listed at B&H Photo:

  • New Micro Four Thirds sensor
  • Updated Venus Engine Image Processor
  • 5.7K 60p video, 10-bit sampling
  • DCI 4K 10-bit 4:2:2, unlimited recording
  • UHD 4K 120p with 10-bit HFR
  • Price: approximately $2500
