Reminder: Canon still has to announce their EOS R1 flagship camera

After the Nikon Z9 announcement this week I saw several comparisons between the Nikon Z9 and the Canon EOS R3 cameras and while I do think the new Z9 is the top of the line Nikon flagship, I believe Canon is not done yet and they still have to release their "real" EOS R1 flagship camera next year. Here are some rumors on that topic coming from CanonRumors (there are a few other low-quality clickbait websites pretending to have inside information on that topic - you should just ignore them and go to the original source):

  • Canon EOS R1 is expected to begin shipping in Q4 of 2022
  • Most likely will not have a global shutter
  • Design and specifications have not been finalized yet
  • The Canon EOS R1 sensor could have a resolution higher than the Canon EOS R5’s 45MP
  • 8k video
  • Price should be under $10,000

Confirmed: The Canon EOS R3 is not the flagship mirrorless camera

The Canon EOS R3 is not the flagship camera, the R3 sensor may not be produced by Canon
