Hasselblad Lunar spotted in the wild, first impressions published online, the questions still remains: “Why?”

Update: see also this related post.

The Australian-born photographer Brad Morris had the chance to play with the Hasselblad Lunar mirrorless camera after he ran into some guys who had the camera on the streets of Hong Kong. He shared his first impressions on Theme:

"The first thing that strikes you when looking at the Hassy is the funky shape of the wooden grip and the dials and buttons. The next thing that strikes you is that, in spite of the camera top plate being metal, the finish on both the top plate and the buttons works really hard at giving the impression that they are cheap plastic. The texture is visually similar to the plastic used in the low-end Canon Rebel SLRs."

Few other remarks:

  • The EVF has a large eyecup
  • The Lunar is heavier than the NEX-7
  • Stiffer buttons with sharper edges compared to the NEX-7
  • "Better quality click" when releasing the shutter
