Canon working on a new EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS lens

Canon is rumored to be working on an new EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS lens with image stabilization. This should not be a surprise since Nikon recently announced a new Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8E lens with VR. The current Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens ($1,799, pictured above) was announced back in 2012.
