JK Imaging cannot come up with a new Kodak camera, so it copied the Sony QX10/QX100

At CES JK Imaging announced a new line of Kodak products… a new lens camera modules for smart phones, just like the Sony QX10/QX100. This new Pixpro camera automatically qualifies them for the 2014 worst camera of the year award. The press release:

Kodak exits bankruptcy, now a “technology company serving imaging for business markets”

Well, they did it: today Kodak officially announced that they are exiting bankruptcy and will continue to exists as a “technology company serving imaging for business markets – including packaging, functional printing, graphic communications and professional services”. The Kodak branded S1 Micro Four Thirds compact system camera is delayed

Amateurphotographer reports that the Kodak branded S1 Micro Four Thirds compact system camera produced by JK Imaging will be delayed. The official release was scheduled for Q3 of 2013. The Kodak AZ521 super zoom camera (also produced by JK Imaging) should now be available in the UK for £249.99 (around $380). Here are the specs:

What else is new?

LumoPro LP180 quad-sync manual flash announced. Kodak’s PixPro AZ521 camera is the world’s first compact camera with 52x optical zoom.    Ricoh filed a patent  for a new bounce flash.     Canon filed patents for 28mm, 35mm, 40mm and 45mm f/2.8 full frame pancake lenses.

Kodak post profits, spins off imaging businesses, steps toward exiting from chapter 11

Two interesting press releases came out from Kodak today: Kodak announced agreement to spin off Personalized Imaging and Document Imaging Businesses in a settlement with U.K. pension plan – another step toward exiting from chapter 11.
