Olympus filed patent for a tilt lens

Olympus filed patent 2012-199834 in Japan for a tilt lens similar to a Lensbaby. Based on the patent description, the lens will not be able to “shift“. In addition to Lensbaby, some photographers have also successfully used third party tilt-shift bellows on Olympus m4/3 cameras. Novoflex recently announced new tilt-shift bellows compatible with different mirrorless system via an adapter:

Sony now owns almost 12% of Olympus

The deal between Sony and Olympus is now official. Olympus will issue 34,387,900 common shares (11.46%) to Sony. Both companies will work together not only on future medical products, but will also collaborate in the camera business – Olympus will share lens and mirror technology with Sony, while Sony will supply sensors to Olympus:

DxOMark Olympus OM-D E-M5 test results are out – the best MFT camera so far

DxOMark published their test results for the Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera. With an overall score of  71, the E-M5 takes the top rank for all Micro Four Thirds cameras. At Photokina Olympus announced the E-PL5 and E-PM2 which use the same sensor as the E-M5. The Panasonic GH3 is not tested yet.
